We’re inviting local businesses, cultural venues, restaurants, cafes, hotels, galleries, and community spaces along this route (and nearby!) to participate in playful, creative, and collaborative ways.

 

  • Host an event or activation and we'll add it to the schedule

  • Create a signature drink or dish

  • Showcase local art

  • Illuminate your window

  • In-kind or donations to support artists

  • Contribute venue space for a popup, performance or exhibition

Victoria at Dusk invites local businesses, cafes, hotels, tourism operators, galleries, collectives, organizations, and media to help bring light, joy, and creativity to downtown Victoria this winter.

 

Opportunities for getting involved include:

  • Host an event along the walking route, or shoulder event at satellite sites

  • Offer a promotion to get people in your door, from special hot chocolates to discounts, tourism packages, and more

  • Host artists or artworks in your space

  • Have special late hours to add to a fun, festive vibe

  • Support activations and interactive experiences

  • Financial and in-kind sponsorship of installations, advertising, installation, equipment, experiences​​

Why get involved?

The experience brings people downtown, driving foot traffic, encouraging exploration, and activating streets, storefronts, and public spaces with light, art, and community energy.

It also helps support economic and tourism visitorship, offering a new reason to visit Victoria from across Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, and beyond, especially during the quieter winter season.

This is an immersive, visual, and community-driven event full of local stories, whimsy, and wonder. With glowing installations, performances, and playful activations, the festival offers striking, shareable content that’s perfect for media and social platforms.

we are hiring: 

Marketing Coordinator

We are looking for a Marketing Coordinator to coordinate the PR, advertising, and marketing for Victoria at Dusk. This is a 4 month position and we are looking for someone experienced with the following: print marketing, advertising campaigns, digital media, booking and managing ads, PR for events. The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for social media, print ads, PR, advertising, ensuring a successful and popular event with widespread attention throughout Victoria, Vancouver Island and beyond.

 

The Role

We expect the candidate/s to work on some or all of the following tasks, and during interviews we welcome candidates to share their interests and ideas:

  • Digital marketing, social media coordination

  • Creating content

  • Advertising, working with the media and other stakeholders

  • Booking ads, coordinating visual assets and communications

Who are you?

We are flexible about who we bring on board because we love diverse interests and skills and we encourage diverse applicants to apply. We are looking for someone to work approximately 10 - 30 hours a week. The hours are flexible, require some weekend work, and we prefer candidates based in Victoria/with pre-existing media and advertising networks in Victoria and Vancouver Island.

We are looking for someone to work on a 4 month contract who possesses some of the following skills and interests:

· Creative, artistic (desirable but not essential)

· Has a positive and can-do attitude, and who loves learning and thinking outside the box

· Must have a flexible work schedule as we will be busier at certain times around events, available weekends and some weekdays and can align working time with our team's work days

· Can operate independently with motivation and drive, reporting to our Director but taking on projects and tasks independently and sticking to deadlines

· Can manage multiple tasks, making sure our events and activations run seamlessly, who can solve problems and adapt on the fly

· Event experience of some sort is highly desirable

· Tech savvy and confident using online technologies

· Victoria-based candidates preferred

· Must be able to work from home and have your own phone and computer, access to internet

- We do have wage funding support available for this role through PLT Canada which supports work experience for youth 30 and under. For this program candidates must be aged 30 and under, be Canadian permanent residents/citizens or refugees. If you are eligible for this wage funding please indicate this in your application.

We expect that the candidate will earn anywhere from $25 - $35 per hour depending on their experience, and a fluctuating schedule from 10 - 30 hours per week depending on the time, and be on site for each night of our winter event, with increased hours around that time. They will work in a hybrid remote role, attending meetings and events sometimes, and from home the rest of the time. We aim to create a positive, open learning environment where our team can shine and grow through our initiatives.
